Rauchfrei Aktuell is the official publication of the German association Pro Rauchfrei. Pro Rauchfrei was a mainly politically oriented association. Pro Rauchfrei’s objectives included protecting the public from the dangers of passive smoking.
In my function at that time as deputy chairman of the association I was also responsible for large parts of the public relations work and almost everything related to visual design.
For the April 2008 issue, I have produced the cover and created the figure of the “Bundeskasper” as a visual representation of the title theme “Kasperletheater Nichtraucherschutz”.
With all its attributes and tattoos, the Bundeskapser shows how the politicians and parties made themselves implausible and ridiculous in public. They were were effectively influenced by interest groups of the tobacco lobby and lacked courage and will when it came to making effective and lasting improvements in the complex of issues surrounding non-smoker protection. In addition to this I took over the picture editing and contributed to the content.
The magazine was produced in full color print with a four-digit circulation and distributed to all members of the German Bundestag at that time. Additionally it was distributed to selected personalities with a thematic reference and by order to members of the association.
