I respect your privacy and value the releationship I have with you as a reader of my websites. However, this site, like many others, uses small files called cookies to help me to customise your experience. On this page you find out more about cookies and how you can control them.

What are cookies?

‘Cookies’ are small text files that are stored by the browser (for example, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer) on your computer or mobile phone. They allow websites to store things like user preferences. You can think of cookies as providing a ‘memory’ for the website, so that it can recognise you when you come back and respond appropriately. Cookies from my website do never contain data which can be used to identify you as an individual.

Which cookies will be set by my website?

Currently only a few cookies are used. These are neccessary to fulfill some mandatory requirements for websites provided from or to countries in the European Union (upcoming ePrivacy policy and directive 2009/136/EC).

The cookies are not mandatory and can be safely deleted at any time. However you may recognize some small annoyances if you deny these cookies. Please read the following description to learn more about the cookies used on my website.

How do I use the website cookies?

Cookies on this website are used for your convenience. They keep track of your preferences (e.g. if you have accepted the cookie policy or not). They will never contain any sensitive data or data which can be used to identify you as an individual.

How can you manage your cookies?

There are several ways for you to take control over your cookies. Beside the recommendation to always disable third party cookies, which usually do only exist for bad reasons (1. bad designed websites or 2. tracking your activities during your internet sessions), you can reject my cookie policy, completly disable cookies or remove already set cookies.

The way to adjust the cookie settings of your browser depends on the browser version, the browser vendor and the operating system you use. It is not possible to cover all possible combinations, but I try to provide some basic information which may help you to get into the topic. Please also read the documentation for your browser to learn more about cookie settings.

What happens if you reject my cookie policy?

Yet not much. Sorry for this. If you are concerned, you should block cookies for my website. Depending on the status of your browser tab / browser window you may be returned to the last page shown before you have rejected the cookie policy. You are always welcome to visit me later again.
